Earlier this year, a fruit trader in the Philippines claimed to have found a new variety of the dragon fruit with blue and green flesh. Since then, many scientists and enthusiasts have been trying to verify whether this is truly a new variety of dragon fruit tree or if it is an elaborate hoax.
In addition, on the Internet, you can often come across pictures of this fruit with such an unusual coloring. It is not uncommon to find in the description something like this:
Blue dragon fruit is a unique type of fruit that is often enjoyed by people all over the world. This fruit is known for its vibrant blue color and its sweet and sour flavor. There are a few different ways to enjoy this fruit, but most people eat it fresh. Blue dragon fruit can be found in many different parts of the world, and it is often used in smoothies, salads, and other dishes. Don’t forget to try the pitahaya with green pulp as well. This pitaya fruit will also amaze you with its taste.

A detailed study showed that the so-called rare blue dragon fruit does exist, but it has a slightly bluish rind, not flesh. It is a variety often grown in India. Apart from the unusual color of the rind, it is unremarkable because in terms of taste it is no better than the more common species.

So, as we say most dragon fruit has a pink peel, green scales, and white flesh with tiny black seeds, like kiwifruit. Other kinds have white flesh with a yellow peel or pink or deep magenta flesh.
Unfortunately, more of those colors aren’t available. Those pictures are fake or have been colored with food coloring. Don’t be tricked. So the blue and green dragon fruit plant is mostly fiction.
